How the Generic C & C Day Proceeds
|
|
These courses have a large practical component with extensive participant involvement and consist of 2 main sections. An ‘UPDATE’ section introduces core declarative knowledge, its integration and related practical skills. The second consists of a ‘PROBLEM-SOLVING’ session, applying update material to a novel case-history scenario. (Timings are approximate: indication only).

PROBLEM-SOLVING SESSION
Analysis of a ‘conundrum' case history: explicit consideration of function and structure guides our exploratory process. This is underpinned by a brief recap of the analytical process. Follow-up is via peer-group work, directed at practical application of the appropriate tests and procedures selected by participating clinicians for the examination of this patient. These are then considered in detail and their relative merits discussed.

Plenary discussion: 15 minutes or so (according to participant needs) |

Frequent informal formative testing with immediate feedback will occur (for instance in relation to clinical signs and clinical test results). At times, it will take an objective written form. This process will provide attending practitioners with a gauge of their knowledge, their ability to apply it to date and their progress overall. We conclude with a recap and synopsis of the overall process and reflection on the major accomplishments of the day.
Time is available, as required, for participants to address questions and discuss the day's events with each other. They may also complete satisfaction surveys or be provided with formative material for personal reflection.
